The Story

D&R Paving, the largest independent asphalt installer in eastern Massachusetts, participated in a pilot project aimed at exploring the benefits of implementing HaulHub’s DOT e-Ticketing™ solutions for public work. Collaborating through the included JOBslip platform, D&R Paving, Benevento Companies, Briggs Engineering & Testing, and the Boston Transportation Department embarked on the task to pave ten streets in Boston.

HaulHub’s solutions provides material producers and contractors with access to the JOBslip platform to manage e-Tickets and seamlessly deliver digital ticketing data in real-time to the BTD systems with minimal disruption to current construction activities. The primary objective of the project was to foster enhanced collaboration and efficiency among the teams representing each partner involved. This streamlined approach to the paving processes not only benefited all stakeholders but also improved BTD inspection procedures and provided the opportunity to leverage real-time ticketing data for optimized project management.

Throughout the project, teams across the supply chain extensively utilized the platform, both on-site and in the office, to monitor and manage the paving operations. Real-time tracking and visibility enabled D&R Paving to anticipate the delivery of the asphalt mixture and focus on its spread onto the prepared surface using specialized equipment, such as pavers and rollers. The paving process involves meticulous attention to detail to achieve the desired thickness and smoothness. This streamlined approach significantly improved operational efficiency on the multiple project sites.

The digital ticketing system ensured accurate documentation of material specifications, quantities, and additives, meeting project requirements and tracking compliance. It provided D&R Paving with valuable insights to ensure commitments were met effectively. This ensured the approval from BTD, the governing municipal transportation agency.
