Celebrating Diversity in the Heavy Construction Industry

Here at HaulHub, we’ve noticed that the heavy construction industry has had a tendency to lag behind other industries when it comes to diversity. That’s why we’re taking an active stance on pushing for innovation in this realm. Our industry must step into the future, prioritizing advances in diversity and creating opportunities for women to thrive.

Dedication to Diversity from the Top Down

“The industry needs to take a more proactive approach to how it approaches hiring and attracting talent in 2021 and beyond,” says HaulHub CEO and Founder Joe Spinelli. “We aspire to have an inclusive and diverse group of employees that look like the communities we work in and serve. In order to change the industry, you must lead the industry.”

Last month, we’ve had the honor of sending two of our sales team members, Britney Kobliska and Kimberly Kaufman, to events in Florida and Texas. They attended the Asphalt Contractors Association of Florida Annual Meeting and TXAPA & Women of Asphalt Texas. These in-person events are some of the first since the beginning of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Asphalt Contractors Association of Florida Annual Meeting

From June 10th to June 13th, Britney Kobliska attended the Asphalt Contractors Association of Florida Annual Meeting in Naples, Florida. The event was attended by 320 professionals and included a Women of Asphalt event on the first day.

“What I love about HaulHub is that they’re never afraid to try new things, and that they build their employees and team from the ground up,” said Kobliska before departing. “They empower you to help make a lasting change in the industry, and I really appreciate the opportunity to attend the Asphalt Contractors Association of Florida Annual Meeting. I know we are going to make a serious impact.”

TXAPA & Women of Asphalt Texas

The Texas Asphalt Pavement Association and the Women of Asphalt Texas collaboratively hosted a networking night on June 24th at the TXAPA Campus in Buda, Texas. This event celebrated the launch of Women of Asphalt Texas, which TXAPA members can join for free. The organization is focused on supporting women throughout the asphalt industry through mentoring, advocacy, and education.

“I am so privileged and excited to be a part of this event, and proud that I work for a company that wants to see the construction industry promote and celebrate women and their contributions,” says Kimberly Kaufman.
